Emily and Chuck from the nearby Rotary club of Lexington (Virginia not Kentucky!) popped over to say hello. They brought with them some local beers for us to sample believing for some reason we like beer. Good guess. They also bought a host of treats (beef jerky, fruit, energy bars, M&M's you name it) again thinking we might like a bit of sustenance. Another good guess. Thanks Emily and Chuck - thoroughly appreciated. We will visit the brewery as we pass through Lexington today. Four to go ...
Into the last week of our journey and onto the last of the twelve maps that the Trans Am Association puts out to cover the trip. We have just under 600km and 6,000m of climbing to finish and today we ticked off 125km and 1200m on what was a very pleasant day. The rains came overnight but were all but cleared up by the time we left Radford in the morning. Thank you weather gods. This was a rolling ride with none of the hills very steep or long. Thank you Virginia. The 125km did seem to be pretty easy as a consequence although still warm so the swimming pool at the hotel was gratefully utilised. A 9 day by all.
