The final 160km over flat countryside was a welcome relief for sore legs, bums, shoulders, arms - you name it. It was made even more pleasant with a cycle way that started about 70km from the finish and went for the next 40km. Unfortunately it was then replaced by a 30km "parkway" road into Yorktown that was like riding on small cobblestones. Punishing on the old buttocks but the swim in the Atlantic ocean followed by a few glasses of champagne cured all of the ills.
For the statistically minded: We rode a total of 6,675km over 56 ride days spending 267 hours in the saddle (not counting rest stops). Our average ride day was 119km at an overall average speed of 25kph. We climbed 49,400m vertically which is about five and a half Mt Everest's. Fortunately we came down the same height which was the fun part.
We also noted that today our fund raising ticked over the target $30,000 mark. To all of you who donated thank you very much. Wheelchairs for Kids will be pleased. We hope the blog made you smile, inspired you to get out and exercise/see the world/have a laugh or maybe just filled in the time while you were at work. We had fun.
